Partner Voice

Voiceworks Studio introduced partner lessons two years ago. Voice coaching for 2 students of similar age, level and style and duration of lesson can be 45 or 60 minutes long. We have 12 vocal coaches available to choose from, between Mon. and Sat., each specializing in various genres of music and each coach has experience and qualifications specific to working with certain student profiles, be it kids, teens, adults, professionals or undergraduates, (see Team Voiceworks for full details).

Like one to one singing lessons, a course of partner lessons at Voiceworks Studio is tailored by the teacher to suit the students’ needs.

A typical partner lesson will start with a warm up together in unison and sometimes in harmony followed by development of vocal technique individually. This will be followed by song work and can vary from solo songs for each student or duets with a focus on harmony. Song work will include interpretation/expression, musicianship, music knowledge, vocal technique, style and performance skills and will conclude with a plan for your week’s practice schedule. Students are encouraged to bring a mobile device able to record audio to each lesson and record some, most or all of the lesson.

All primary and secondary school students who sign up for partner lessons at Voiceworks Studio must take a weekly 45 minute musicianship class unless they pass an assessment in September and/or can prove they receive sufficient musicianship training elsewhere. We want Voiceworks Studio’s singers to feel confident and equipped to perform in any professional situation with a language and understanding of music that will allow them to communicate and participate with musicians, other singers and industry professionals with ease. **see note

Goals are very important when embarking on any developmental or educational course. Rockschool exams for contemporary singing, music theatre singing, and piano are available to Voiceworks Studio students and take place in the first week of June 2018. For those wishing to take classical grades we use Associated Board and these also take place in the first week of June 2018.

All students will take an in house end of term assessment, one in December ’17 and the other in May ’18. This is a great way for students and teachers to assess the progression throughout the year. The assessment will be relevant to the lesson plan made with your teacher and flexible to your level, style and goals.

Voiceworks Studio will put on a number of gigs this academic year 2017/18 (see Events for more details) and all students are encouraged to audition. Each gig is accompanied by the Voiceworks Studio’s House Band in a professional venue giving student singers a real performance experience.

** Note on Musicianship
All school goers joining/returning to Voiceworks Studio in Sep ‘17 will take a free musicianship assessment and if we at Voiceworks are satisfied they’ve scored high enough or are receiving sufficient musicianship training elsewhere, an exemption can be made. We have made the classes as cost effective for students as possible while maintaining the highest standards of training. We hope you share our viewpoint that this will be a hugely positive step forward for us all and will lead to a fully rounded vocal education for all our future stars!

* Courses run from 13th Sept. - 14th Dec. 2017  and 10th Jan. – 24th May 2018.
